A carnation for unconditional love
A true symbol of love, the carnation is represented everywhere in the love scenes of Ancient Greece paintings. Also called Dianthus in botany, the words Dios (God) and Anthos (flower) in Greek, it is considered a divine flower. According to a Christian legend, carnations grew from the Virgin Mary’s tears as she watched Jesus carry the cross. Therefore, a carnation expresses unconditional love, and can be used in all floral compositions.
